Dr. Thomas Sträter is the Head of the Luso-Brazilian Department, Institute of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He obtained his Ph.D. with a dissertation on the Crônica, as a Brazilian genre. His Post-Doctoral dissertation deals with the relationship between literature and music in Brazil and Latin America. He teaches Translation Theory and History, with emphasis on the Portuguese speaking countries. His latest book is entitled: Traduzir é preciso, Berlin, 2013. For a list of publications, click here.
